Reincarnation is unlikely to be along the lines of choosing a holiday, possibly more like opting for a course in corrective therapy.

Pity.
Especially if we had a choice of planets to choose our next life.

Me, I'd still opt for a spirit body only. Too many things to go wrong with a physical one. Crying or Very sad

How old is he? And he's led a rough and high-pressure life.

He must be getting on and he`s the umpteenth reincarnation.Seems like a thoroughly nice chap. I`m with you though Jim. Nice little cottage in summerland. Garden books and loved ones. Maybe a bit of light guiding just to keep my hand in. Those that chat to me don`t mention reincarnation but then those who go in for that sort of thing are presumably on this side anyway.

Do any of those who have been on the spirit side of the divide for awhile, ever mention that they know someone "from there" who HAS reincarnated?

Maybe those who talk to us haven't been up into those realms from whence reincarnation might take place 'yet' and there's another level of progression for some from which they might be reincarnated.
I've less than an idea really but tend to come down on the side of Conan Doyle (reincarnation does happen but is probably very rare) than Emma H-B - reincarnation is a hellish 'lie' and doesn't {I suspect that she was implying "SHOULDN'T!"} happen ever.
Still don't fancy the idea though, once round on the earth plane is more than enough for me thank you very much. But who's to say where we'll get to in and from the summerland?

It's all very bizarre and confusing. I find it interesting that Spiritualists, Christians, and Western-culture people in general tended not to believe in reincarnation - often were not even familiar with the idea - until we started making more contacts with Eastern thought.

Personally, I'll just have to admit that while there is evidence pointing toward it, and while I can construct a counter-argument in favor of it for every argument I can construct against it, the whole idea neither appeals to me on an emotional level, nor convinces me on an intellectual one. So I'll stay in the anti-reincarnation camp, unless and until life in the spirit world convinces me otherwise.

If I'm wrong. . . hey, it won't be my first time! Laughing

What if you had the choice of a good life, comfort and security to compensate for the last life?
It would be a choice of progressing in the spirit world or staying at whatever level you were in at that time.
Thank carefully,Jim.... Wink

My earthly life has been better than most folk's, Petal.

But still, how do you get around medical problems, aging, bereavement, etc. ? It just comes with the earthly territory, and is always painful to undergo.

Isn`t the point of karmic reincarnation be it buddhist or hindu that at some stage you can get off the roundabout and not come back? Being basically lazy once around is enough for me but we`ll know a lot more once we`re there. Knowledge beats faith every time and what`s marvellous is that as spiritualists we know that there is a positive and progressive outcome to and beyond all the ups and downs of this life.
Every single person I know who has come into this way has a unique story to tell but if there is one common theme it must be the joy comfort and fellowship they have found and found proven. As that old Shaker ( and they were spiritualists par excellence) song has it...
... And when we find ourselves in a place just right ....

Yes,I think reincarnation is suggested by the Buddhist religion.
Or stemmed from them.
I believe in reincarnation for the only reason is that is makes common sense for our physical lives.
To gain spirituality,to progress in spirit,we have to learn many lessons.
Unfortunately.

Not so much Kharma, but to gain experience in every physical aspect of life.
We have to experience the good and the bad of physical existance.
That's my feelings on it.... Very Happy
It is the only reason that makes sense to me.
Unless there is another purpose we are sent here for,and that I cannot understand.
Ok,we suffer ( I know how you feel,Jim),but why do we suffer?
There has to be an explanation for that.
Give me another reason and i will listen.
