John Rabe

I have just watched a fascinating documentary about the above person whom I had never heard of. He was a German engineer in China in 1938 and a member of the Nazi Party. He is credited with saving 200,000 lives during the massacre of Nanking. He was ignored in Germany when he returned and his reports suppressed. He died in near poverty surviving on food parcels from the people of Nanking.
