"Investigators" seem to start from the position of themselves being the normal element in the tests and look for a flaw of some kind to confirm this.
I've yet to see a 'psychic investigator' reach a conclusion from their investigations, especially a conclusion that might confound their own work.
Albert Best's remarkable abilities in mediumistic fields were examined by experts time and again, without conclusion. Indeed, he donated his body to science to assist them, but since then - silence. A particular gentleman had discussions with Albert, in particular about acquiring his brain and as far as I had learned, did so.
Apparently some other earth species can see in infra and/ or ultra wave, which might be a fruitful area to pursue.

Perhaps as countless Mediums have said: 'Your deceased loved ones are standing beside you at this very moment' is the whole truth of it?
