I never thought of Theosophy as being Spiritualist. More like an attempt to bring Eastern religion to the West.

Theosophy was what the first version of Andrew Jackson Davis's Magical Spiritualism became. Emma Hardinge Britten was on the inaugral committee. It created a majotr spat where Emma wrote abusive letters to AJD in the New York Times objecting to his definition.
This split is a key reason why the NSAC hold AJD up as a majour founding Figure but he is not revered in the same way in the UK.
