Jim in my work online I hear from few I consider knowledgeable, experienced Spiritualists so what's the deal for you in your neck of the woods?

Are there many who are knowledgeable about Spiritualism generally and/or interested in the history of the movement?

Hi Mac,

I think my experience is much like yours ther are not that many who are knowledgeable or really interested in Spiritualism and its history. If you hear things they tend to be paraphrasing of the history as it was written and do not reflect the information that has now becoame available.

Now there is a strange thing that people enjoy talks like this that give them the history. You may have noticed the glitches in doing a talk like this with no notes when the old memory fails to provide names like Elisha Kane fpor Maggies fiancee and then husband. There is a greatedr interest in hearing these talks than people expect. I tend to go for either philosophy or history, partly as I am the leader of the centre and feel it is part of my role to fill this gap.

In honesty talks lie this are not always the forte of even the mediums we have had to visit us from overseas. Probably Anne Gehman and her husband Wayne Noll were two of the greates exceptions fabulous talks with plenty of content. However, the mediums we have at our centre do, thankfully, put on good, interesting and sometimes challenging talks which normally have some relationship to our philosophy.

There are only so many times you can put on this type of material. Sadly the weekly address is about the only time we can get it in front of people. To help this we normally have available some of a range of 20+ pamphlets many written or adapted by Lis and I people can pick these up albeit we ask for a donation to help cover the costs (in a Pandemic cover costs, no chance with insurance, electricity & water being as expensive as they are luckily almost everything else is voluntarily provided and with no socialising after meetings no costs for tea, coffee, biscuits & milk).
