This is the sort of thing that gives Mediums, Psychics and Spiritualism in general, a bad name.

Whatever happened to Personal Responsibility?
Wonder if the Law of Attraction operates in their locality?

Hi Hiorta hopefully it does and no one will be attracted to their site.

Yes it is what gives the whole movement a bad name but it is what at leat 75% of people go to get a reading for and what they expect should I leave my husband, is the new man better, will I find love etc etc. I really believe so few understand the concept that a true Medium will only work with loved ones and of the adverts to choose from how would they find a true Medium.

Most Psychics I know tend to use the They are telling me as if some wise spirit is providing the information indeed half of them probably would tell you its their guide giving this wonderful material. If they are convincing enough far too many people write down what they should do and go and act upon it.

The reality is if you are going to work Psychically call it I am picking this up from around you ..from your energy etc and I am sensing this . I admit at times when you are working psychically the flow is so strong that it seems you are being helped and you may be but don't say its gfrom spirit unless you can call it. I also believe you should tell people you are reading their hopes, dreams, wishes, fears and aspirations.

Now a psychic can sometimes help by mirroring it back but when they move into a deeper knowledge to tell you what to do its a dangerous area when the person too often really needs counselling.

Don't you think though Jim, that the "General Public", those who are unaware of the difference between a medium and a psychic reading, (and some that do) don't really give a rats a*"e about the mechanics of it, just as long as they are getting a message that works for them. Because of this lack of understanding, they expect the medium/psychic to give them the very things that 'mediumship' is opposed too, telling fortunes, even though they know thats what the people want.

And yes I agree, if they are psychics and working that way then they should tell them that, and do exactly as you has suggested.

Absolutely Zandorf we have people who come in and say they are not interested in proving survival they already accept it. They want the fortune telling, also "mediums" who give them fluffy messages about their guides the colour of htheir energy and their wonderful healing gifts.

I point out that for a Medium to see and talk to their guide is more difficult than contacting a loved one and unless they give some proof that they can contact Spirit how can you trust their message from your "guide".

Sadly the lack of training means to many "psychic/mediums" have no idea where they are picking up from. Its too easy to get an image from the aura and add a whole pile of words to it. In a group I had a Lady cut loose about the Eygptian guide with a person until I said all she saw was the reading and work the Lady had been doing all day on Eygptology. I could see her with books and working on something. Sad for her she realised that the "guide" was indeed the drawing of an Eygptian she had been making on a stained glass window.

Sadly these problems spread over as people come into Centres wanting the mixed messages and the lack of decent Mediums means the use of people with insufficient training to know how they are working. In the end the mixture we get is likely to cause terminal damage to the Spiritualist Movement. I can assure you that to be purist about it will not help to make friends and influence people. we may have 3 strands in Spiritualism rational, Christian and Magical/Metaphysical/New Age but it is the latter that is growing most strongly.
