The Haunted Al Capone and Medium Alice Britt

Post by Admin on Mon Nov 23, 2009 10:37 pm

"Whether the ghost was real or not, Capone certainly believed that he was. The crime boss even went so far as to contact a psychic named Alice Britt to get rid of Clark's angry spirit. Not long after a sťance was conducted to try and rid Capone of the vengeful spirit, Hymie Cornish, Capone's personal valet also believed that he saw the ghost. He entered the lounge of Capone's apartment and spotted a tall man standing near the window. He demanded to know the man's identity but the shadowy figure slipped behind a curtain and out of sight. Cornish immediately summoned two of his employer's bodyguards but a search of the room revealed there was no one there but Al Capone, who continued to insist the figure had been Jimmy Clark"

Very interesting. One wonders if Capone's "mental illness" was not really the result of this spirit tormenting him for years.

Perhaps if psychiatrists were more open to the idea of spirit influences they might realize that "voices in the head" are not all the result of schizophrenia or an overactive imagination.

Absolutely right but of course, and sadly, every so often they are voices in the head and multiple personality disorders, I really wish I had the knowledge and skiill to look deeply at this area. Part way there but it is so complex.

Unfortunately, I think the field of psychiatry will forever remain lacking and incomplete until more open-minded individuals enter the field who have greater spiritual awareness and understanding.

If you are interested in the subject, Carl Wickland's "Thirty Years Among The Dead" is worth a read - he was a psychiatrist.

Oh, thanks for that recommendation. I'll add that to my list of "must reads" which is growing longer by the day. Wink
