All the old 'holding hands in the dark' stuff gets another airing with the 'real explanation' offered.

But, do they have a point?

As Jim recently pointed out - just what part does Mind play in producing phenomena?

Fascinating question Hiorta and one I would love to know. Look back at much of the early work of the SPR and you discover just how closely intertwined Spiritualism, its mediums and psychologists were intertwined. William James One White Crow Leonora Piper, Jungs interest in the whole area (and clear belief in it his red book is fascinating http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/20/magazine/20jung-t.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 http://gnosis.org/redbook/).

One of the impacts the schism which occurred between mediums and psychical researchers was that this interplay ceased. Yes faults on both sides some Spiritualists would defended mediums who were clearly caught in fraud and some researchers refused to accept any evidence whatsoever, however real it was.

This is one of the areas I am really interested in as a medium I know it works but cannot clearly say why it does or why some really good psychics never find the key to becoming a medium. From the transactions in my mind while I am working I know its a left/right brain differential. My left brain move into observing mode while my right brain handles the communication. Clearly why the whole area of psychic/mediumship is really suitable for people with mental instability.

Of course I intended it to be unsuitable, not suitable. Freudian slip looking around at some of the things I see or read I may have unintentionally been more right than wrong.
