Would mediumship be considered a form of extra sensory perception/awareness?

mediumship is the communication between a spirit incarnated, living in physical form, us as human being, and spirit who are disincarnated, passed on. john lodge studies showed it to be a form of telepathy between the mind of the incarnate spirit, human form and the mind of the dis incarnated spirit being/relative establishing a mental connection. there are various forms of mediumship. i know that parapsychology terms are different than spiritualist terms for the same thing can throw people.

From wiki

Extrasensory perception (ESP) involves reception of information not gained through the recognized physical senses but sensed with the mind. The term was adopted by Duke University psychologist J. B. Rhine to denote psychic abilities such as telepathy, clairaudience, and clairvoyance, and their trans-temporal operation as precognition or retrocognition. ESP is also sometimes casually referred to as a sixth sense, gut instinct or hunch, which are historical English idioms. It is also sometimes referred to as intuition. The term implies acquisition of information by means external to the basic limiting assumptions of science, such as that organisms can only receive information from the past to the present.

Its also interesting to get a background to teh way psychical research developed.
This one, hardly surprisingly co authored by Carlos Alvarado, is worth a read
Historical Notes on Psychic Phenomena in Specialised Journals

Alvardo's work is always worth a read and is freely available, he took over from Ian Stephenson in the department of personality studies University of West Virginia and is now also Scholar in Residence and Faculty at Atlantic University.
