I wait the full story with interest. Hadley was badly involved in teh PN saga from the start, my understanding is he knew the oriinal liquidators Berleys and reccomended them. They all thought they had a you beut cunning stunt to pull the assets into the SNU. The cost of that failure was huge for the SNU must have been over 100,000 pounds ...love to see how they hide it from the AGM.

One down nowq how about some more of the inner sanctum

Rationalisation plans and the unveiling of new Directorate structure will distract all but the more persistent at Blackpool AGM in July.
"We must move forward, not look backwards" is a planned theme, or so my
[checkable 1-8-12] guide informs.
Corporation assets vested in Directorate next then it's hello to wire fences all around and JCBs as far as the eye can see by this time next year.

Rearranging of deckchairs on the 'SNU Titanic' this past week says mole. Watch this space. If their paymasters general and JV Trust pull the plug they're sunk. Individual membership subs income at an all time low with some churches witholding precepts fees in protest over recent events.

But are any other Spiritualist denominations doing well, Peter?

It varies Jim, GW is a shadow of what it once was. United Spiritualists seem to be doing OK Colin Fry's recently become a minister in that he's very big in stage mediumship. Corinthians isn't a denomination as such more a professional association. Thats about it really. Independents like ours either do well or struggle there doesn't seem to be any middle ground. Take Paignton, that was SNU but after Margaret Preece debacle where there was one SNU church there is now a SNU church plus an independent meeting. That can seem like growth in one way but in another way there's a finite membership in a place like Paignton so rather than one fair sized group you'll find two not so big groups.
Hunstanton which was our holiday 'church' met in Community Hall for years, that's closed down for want of support. Old faithfuls pass or get too old to turn out for meeting and there just isn't the interest amongst the 'younger' end of folk newly retired to the town (it's a seaside retirement spot).

But most of those younger folks are no kids themselves. There's a large body of 55 - 65 year olds out there right now who should be prime candidates for Spiritualist teachings.

And you'd think that those children of the hippy era would be prime candidates too but apparently not. Our growth ages are thirty and forty year olds in the main.
Four in from church tonight for mentor training course [photos in next but one PN if they print report]. Ages were 70 42 49 & 32. The five in from Hindu Community group were all twenties and very early thirties. They have the right idea. You visit their centre and they feed one to bursting with the most delicious veggie food ever. Centred around eating together and socialising they are and the place is packed out most nights. Anyone can go not just Hindus. Their Sunday school has six classes and they study for recognized exam subjects. One of our student teachers takes a class of ten year olds for GCSE Religious Studies. Normally that would be done in school age sixteen but those kids gain it by age twelve and in their own time on a weekend. Real work ethic they have.
