A NEW CHAPTER FOR PSYCHIC NEWS

Here is a short report by Leslie Price on the Official Relaunch of Psychic News:

"Psychic News was officially relaunched as a fortnightly magazine at the London Spiritual Mission on Thursday evening. The editor Sue Farrow, Eric Hatton of JV Trust the new owners, and Roy Stemman, chair of the new paper paid tribute to those who had brought PN through the ordeal of death and resurrection.

Among well-wishers who toasted the new beginning were Tony Ortzen ( now editor of Two Worlds), Candy Taylor, editor of Psychic World, Colum Hayward resident minister at the White Eagle Lodge London, Stephen Chapman acting president of the College of Psychic Studies, Jennifer Howard editor of the Quarterly Review of CFPSS, and Alan Murdie of the SPR spontaneous phenomena committee.

Roy pledged that the archives of PN were safe in the new offices, and displayed a photograph from a half century ago. It showed Maurice Barbanell conducting a naming ceremony for the family of PN bookshop manager Gordon Adams on the same rostrum at the Mission.

Grateful thanks are extended to the JV Trust not only for their part in saving PN but for organising the celebration. There was a strong sense of continuity - the church also had long associations with such mediums as Nan Mackenzie, Albert Best and Don Galloway.

At the end of the evening, the first copies were distributed, and eagerly studied. Here’s to the new generation!"

I would personally like to add how thrilled, and relieved I am, that Psychic News is once more in the hands, and the control, of true Spiritualists, who will, I am sure, do all in their power to ensure that Psychic News not only continues to live on, but to present and represent the views and thoughts, and interests, of Spiritualists around the world. Hooray!

I'll be ordering my subscription shortly after a long break from taking PN. After the maelstrom of the past 15 months I hope there will be smooth waters in the future with plenty of news on the Spiritualist scene to report.

Two Worlds is carrying this month (January 2012 edition) the first instalment of an interview with David Bruton, president of the SNU.

I shall be interested to hear what folk think about what he has to say.

Lis, thank you for your kind words. The whole team is pleased, relieved and thankful to have restored Psychic News to publication. In this we have received great help from both sides of life, and we look forward to a future in which PN is more fully independent than at any time in its history. We intend, as you say, to offer a voice to Spiritualists around the world, whatever their earthly affiliation.

After all the back slapping has ended what have we got, in my opinion very little has changed most of the content has all been debated and been banded around web sites before. As far as I am concerned the jury is out and may not return a verdict for some time. I wish the PN well however I feel it will do nothing to rock the boat.

Terrible stuff Jock. I am glad you are hidden away somewhere. Instead of a scurrilous put down like this bring something worthwhile and meaningful to the table of Spiritualism yourself, for a change.

It appears you do try hard but this latest knock is too typical of what you get involved in. One moment you run people down the next you appear to try and snuggle up to them. The SNU is a great case in point of the inconsistencies of your approaches.

Even the one comment on your blog has to date back to an Elvis seance, and is admitted to come from 30 years ago. Now stuff like that is all too whacky but it warrants reporting given all the "serious" people who think all kinds of celebrities come fru....

OK you are out generating all the material you want to see in your own blogs and you are welcome to do it. Many of us want to read the words and views of others. A put down to an important re release of Psychic News in such a rapid manner is totally unwarranted and you should be ashamed.

Jock's 'damp squid' remarks are, to say the least, unfortunate. Luckily, few people will consider his comments as either appropriate, or wise. Whatever may be perceived by some as the strengths or weaknesses in Psychic News, this is not the time to put down, criticize or insult those who have made such a mammoth effort to resurrect the paper.
